If ever there was an underdog story within the horror/slasher genre, Terrifier 2 would be that film. Made on a budget of $250,000, it made $10 million. We need more films like this to show Hollywood that they don't need to spend all the money only to make a little of it back.

Video/Audio
Presented in the film's original aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and being sourced from the 4K DI, TERRIFER 2 looks great. It is very apparent from the opening scene that director Leone shot the film in 4K. There is a film like feel to the whole affair. Detail is very high with just about everything in frame benefitting from the increased resolution. The film isn't that colorful but what colors the film does have (mostly white, black, and red) look really good and accurate to their sources. Blacks are deep and whites aren't blown out. The HDR gives us more accurate colors and whatnot but isn't all that impressive as most of the film takes place at night in low light. Not much detail to gain there. It does help with the overall film look of the film. Still, I am glad that there is HDR grading as we all feared the worse. This is one gnarly film that needs to be seen in 4K.
This disc includes a 5.1 track that is pretty good overall. Dialogue sounds clear and the sound effects work comes through loud, clear, and nasty as all hell.

Extras/Packaging
Behind-the-Scenes of Terrifier 2 (35m 13s, HD, 1.78:1) This is the best feature on this release. It is nothing but fly-on-the-wall footage of the filming as well as of the effects work put into the film. I love features like and I couldn't get enough.
Extended Boo Crew Interview (9m 14s, HD, 1.78:1) Bloody-Disgusting's Boo Crew podcast interviews director Damien Leone and Art the Clown himself, David Howard Thornton. The interview is nice if a bit indulgent. I could have done without this one.
Director's Commentary
Trailer (1m 58s, HD, 1.78:1)
Fan ART (19 images) This is a stills gallery that you cycle through with the chapter skip buttons.
The special features are exactly the same on the blu-ray. However, two of the special features are switched. If you click on the behind the scenes option, you will get the extended interview. Clicking on the extended interview gets you the behind the scenes. This is only on the blu-ray and not on the 4K disc.
Cinedigm did a pretty good job with the packaging on this 4K blu-ray. The slipcover features artwork I hadn't seen before with our final girl and Art the Clown sharing a face like they are two sides of the same coin. The artwork on the 4K blu-ray case features the film's original theatrical artwork. The discs have no artwork, just the title of the film.
Both discs are REGION FREE

Overall
TERRIFIER 2 was a surprise hit at the box office, taking in $10 million off of its $250,000 budget. It is fair to say that the month of October 2022 belonged to Art the Clown. The film itself is good but not great. The gore effects are really impressive given the film's low budget and Art the Clown is entertaining. However, the film's runtime is really bloated, clocking in at 2 hours and 18 minutes which is way too long for a slasher film. The death scenes go on forever and the whole story can't support the runtime. I understand that Leone wanted to show off his effects work, but he could have easily trimmed at least 30 minutes and the film would have the better for it. That being said, I am glad I watched TERRIFIER 2. I had fun with it and plan to watch it again soon. I also want to applaud Leone for making the exact film he wanted to and being really good with the effects work.
This 4K blu-ray release (which is a Best Buy exclusive) is very nice. The picture quality is rather impressive and the special features are a lot of fun while being very informative. I can happily recommend this release.
